You probably read it days ago, but I just found the link from Cursor.org to John Scalzi's hilariously accurate, darn near inarguable "I hate your politics" field guide to liberals, conservatives, and libertarians.
After a long spell of boredom (sorry, the new iMac didn't do it for me), is PC technology starting to get interesting again? First Handspring's Treo PDA/cell phone offers you a choice of Palm's Graffiti scribbled-printing recognition or a RIM BlackBerry-style mini keyboard, then yesterday Sony unveils a PDA that gives you both (along with a mini digital camera and TV/DVD/VCR remote control), thanks to a clever flip-and-pivot screen. The same day, CodeWeavers ships its $55 CrossOver Office, which lets businesses install and run Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint on Windows-free Linux PCs (yeah, I know there's StarOffice/OpenOffice, but you know businesses will never switch to it). CrossOver works with Office 2000 (plus Word and Excel 97), not Office XP/2002 yet, but I'm getting so tempted to try a dual-boot with Lycoris Desktop/LX or SuSE 8.0 I find myself thinking the unthinkable: giving up the dual-boot-incompatible GoBack, the only product I've ever given a 10.0 must-have rave review, when I set up my new PC.
