Eat your heart out, 007Fair warning: Now that I'm playing with an early production sample of the Logitech Pocket Digital camera, you may be seeing more pictures of Cooper the cat.

The Pocket Digital has no LCD monitor to preview or delete images (you can't see 'em till you download 'em to your PC), no flash, no zoom or close-up focus, and no high resolution — so far, frankly, it seems to take barely adequate, Instamatic-style 640-by-480 snapshots (advertised specs cite "1.3 megapixels," but your image editing software does a better job of interpolating or resizing the CMOS-sensor images than the camera does).  But it's truly no bigger than a credit card (OK, it's half an inch thick — imagine a notebook PC Card), stores 50 shots, has great battery life, and costs $130 instead of $300 to $400.  Webloggers and cat-picture-posters will love it.

Baaack by popular demand?  I realize that Burningbird's going on hiatus while she moves to St. Louis and my decision to restart this stalled Weblog is rather like Robert DeNiro announcing his retirement while Pauly Shore stages a comeback, but I'm grateful to the linkers who kept this page on their lists and the readers who inquired about my silence since May 7.  God knows how long it'll take me to re-reinstall Radio and my slightly customized, de-coffee-mugged templates, but all I can say is I'll give it a shot; I have six readers, and two of them are goats.
