Religion: Why was Jesus in the desert for 40 days being tempted? Whats the purpose of that exercise? Here is an interesting point of view: He was being tempted because he could choose to commit a sin. Sounds reasonable? Free will and all that right? OK - but since Jesus was fully God doesn't that mean God could sin? Blows your mind doesn't it. Don't believe that God could sin? Have a look at Jonah 3:10

This is interesting. I totally did not consider that .NET might have any impact on Apple. Nice OpEd.

Looks like I've got my first referer. Should I say thank you Dane ? Thanks and I hope it wasn't a fluke! That reminds me. I've spent the night in Winemucca once in 1980. Largest potatoe field in the US is near there. It was a nicely quiet place back then.

Working on an article that deals with XML recordsets. Here are some links of companies that have possibly relevant information

  • Data Direct
  • Riley has a good summary of what functionality different DB's expose.
  • Some poor schlepp tried to impress Java Pro
  • And of course there is always the approach to store complete XML in a DB. (Why do that?)
  • Castor looks very interesting - but it tries  to take care of everything all at once
  • Another big one is Cocoon. Although our project could fit right in there.

Don Box joined Microsoft. That's old new. Well - here is some more old news.

Everybody is an Expert! How do we know in advance about anything that Gates comes up with? What a bunch of nonesense.

The Register reports a statistic by Evans Data showing a 100% increase in the use of Windows as the primary dev platform for Internet among those companies surveyed. BUT in Asia there has been a 100% increase in the use of Linux. What does that mean? We're screwed no matter which way we go. Maybe Doc's comments will unleash OSX as a competitor? (..yeah right!)

What happens if you gave a party and nobody came? That's sort of what it feels like to blog without a readership.

Yesterday my wife and I spent 5 hours visiting a prospective elementary school for our daughter. After being shown around the extremely well appointed campus we were interviewed one-on-one for over an hour. Not to mention that our daughter will spend half a day being evaluated by the school. All of which in the end will give us the privilege of paying $15,000 per year for her education. Schooling kids in Los Angeles is not cheap.
