Internet Week: Macy's Doubles Conversion Rate. Rather than try to match shoppers' search requests against a text catalog of goods, IntuiFind 4 runs keywords through "linguistic module" software that corrects spelling mistakes or translates phonetically similar keywords to the terminology in the product database. A really good idea. We could use one in the classical music world for people trying to find names of composers, compositions, artists . . . even record labels. This would require a special dictionary of course. Many people shopping for classical music have heard the names on the radio and are making guesses at the spelling . . . even at the actual words they heard. This makes it tough to find what they're looking for, especially if they don't get some knowledgeable help.
