A picture named dubya.gifPoor Dubya gave another speech about confidence in the economy, and yup the stock market responded by going down again, by hundreds of points. Analysts speculate that this is because he said nothing that inspires confidence. It's true, his manner of speaking does anything but inspire confidence. He still has that sing-song way of talking like he's reading off a cue card even when he's ad libbing, and the huge pauses in awkward places don't help in confidence inspiration. Then again what could he say that would get people to not be scared of their friends and neighbors continuing to dump stocks?  [Scripting News]

YOUR TIME IS UP MICHAEL JACKSON A weekly look at people, things or obnoxious phrases that are ready to be put out to pasture
-- We won't mention the wide-ranging surgery, the marriages, the relatives, the terrible fashion choices nor the charges of pedophilia. But one would think that's nothing's really shocking Michael Jackson could do any more. That is until Michael, in cahoots with the Rev. Al Sharpton and O. J. lawyer Johnnie Cochran, declared war on his record company, Sony, and chairman Tommy Mottola for ''failing to promote Invincible [Jackson's last album] properly,'' even though Sony says it spent $25-million on it. Michael has called Mottola, ''a racist and very, very, very devilish.''  FULL STORY [The Globe and Mail: Arts]

EyeTV turns an OS X machine into a PVR. Jim Heid digs into the capabilities of the about-to-be-released EyeTV, a $199 gadget that attaches to any Mac running OS X through a USB port and turns your Mac into a TV viewing and program recording device, much like a TiVo. Interesting...read about it in EyeTV Review on the Macintosh Digital Hub site... [Macintosh News] [Adam Curry: Adam Curry's Weblog]
Oh man. This is cool enough to make me want to watch tv! A USB port?! Too cool. If you really need to keep the show, dump it to CD (big enough to hold 60 minutes). And CDs are much cheaper than video tape. Of course I've probably taped 8 hours of tv in the past 10 years.
