Some Stations to Block 'Nightline' War Tribute
Sinclair Broadcast Group said the program's plan to have Ted Koppel read the names of every member of the armed forces killed in action in Iraq was motivated by an antiwar agenda. [New York Times: International] 'Sinclair, which owns 62 television stations in 39 markets, also made news in September 2001, when it ordered news personnel at its Baltimore station to read patriotic statements supporting President Bush.
The company's reaction to "Nightline" is consistent with criticism from some conservatives, who are charging ABC with trying to influence opinion against the war.' Apparently it's ok to try to influence opinion for the war.
