Montreal's anglo pop gets another notice
First Spin, now the New York Times gets into the act with a notice about how cool Montreal's anglo pop music scene is getting. Not too bad, but the writer should stick to pop factoids and avoid analyzing the political background.

Haze and smog worsen over the city
Yesterday I couldn't see Mount Royal from a spot near Jean-Talon where it's usually crisply visible, and the Environment Canada weather page had a smog warning. The warning's back today, and there's a story about how bad the air is this week.
The irony is that a major culprit is wood-burning stoves. I'm sure that many of the people reinstalling these retro heaters think they're being oh-so-natural and environmentally friendly, but the opposite is true. London long ago passed clean air laws to clear its famous fogs, and we may have to do something like that here too.
