CBC budget boost still unclear
From finance ministry documents of the 2005 Budget tabled today in the House of Commons:
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation plays a unique and essential role in
highlighting Canadian stories and showcasing Canadian talent on radio and
television. Budget 2005 provides $60 million in 2005–06 to help ensure
that Canada’s stories, reflecting the ever-increasing diversity of Canadian
society, find their way into Canadian homes in the form of high-quality
programming.
However, it was unclear whether this renewal of funding received in 2004
also was now a permanent commitment, as the CBC had been hoping. It is also not immediately clear whether the CBC has been turned
down in its request for up to $83 million annually to revive regional
broadcasting it cut in 2000. News reports had suggested government
support for the submission announced by CBC president Robert
Rabinovitch in February.

Explore.Mexico for kids
"The land received the name Yucatán from the Spaniards. When they asked what the land was called, the Mayas obviously did not understand them and replied uh yu uthaan. In Maya, this phrase means listen how they speak; since the Spaniards understood Yucatán, they decided to give the land this name."
I've just discovered this site about Mexico. It's for kids and is in English, Spanish and Italian.
