From behind the subscription firewall Salon.com (subscription or viewing an ad required) examines the various tactics that Farscape fans are using to try to keep the science fiction show on the air. These tactics include letter writing campaigns, buying ads in industry papers, and trying to influence families in the Nielsen ratings program and finally raising money to finance an additional episode of the show. I suggest one possible technique would be to get prepayments from fans towards DVDs or tapes of as yet unfilmed episodes. If enough money is collected the episodes could be filmed and the DVDs or tapes sent out. If after a certain time the required money was not available, any money collected would be refunded. In effect it would be pay-per-view with payment in advance. Salon.com also has an article on the Neturei Karta, a group of self-hating Jews with a whacked out vision of Judaism that is less realistic on the aliens on Farscape. 12:24:11 AM ![]() |
