The team of Ronald L. Rivest of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Adi Shamir of the Weizmann Institute in Israel and Leonard M. Adleman of the University of Southern California have been awarded the Association for Computing Machinery’s 2002 A.M. Turing Award. The trio is best known for their work on public key encryption including the RSA public key algorithm. 2002 Nebula Awards Announced The 2002 Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America Nebula Awards were announced at the annual Nebula banquet Saturday evening, April 19, in Philadelphia PA. The Best Novel was American Gods by Neil Gaiman, which also won the 2002 Hugo Award for Best Novel. Hell is the Absence of God by Ted Chiang was a double winner in both the Nebula and Hugo Novelette category. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring won as Best Script in the Nebula Awards and Best Dramatic Presentation in the Hugo Awards. 12:09:24 AM ![]() |
