Nvidia has officially released the GeForce FX 5900 Ultra which runs neck and neck with ATI’s new Radeon 9800 chip. PCWorld states that the card is quieter than its predecessor and one version comes with a huge 256 MB of memory in the $500 model. A 128 MB model will be priced $100 cheaper. PCWorld was less impressed with the previously release cut down GeForce FX 5200 Ultra and GeForce FX 5600 Ultra powered cards that could not match comparably priced ATI cards and were sometimes even beaten by older GeForce 4 powered cards. 9:53:47 PM

The Speaker of the Texan House of Representatives has ordered the police to detain and forcibly return 53 of the House's 62 Democrats after they staged a walkout to prevent the Republication dominated House from redistricting the federal electoral map in Texas to favor the GOP. By not attending the House session, the Democrats are preventing a quorum from being reached. 9:53:18 PM
