In a New York Post editorial Ralph Peters shows that the agreement by Turkey to dispatch 10,000 troops into Iraq is not as Instapundit Glenn Reynolds states a sign that Turkey thinks the US is winning in Iraq but a sign that Turkey expects the American presence in Iraq to end in failure allowing their troops to move into Kurdish areas. W Turkey has felt free to move troops into northern Iraq’s Kurdish areas since the end of the first Gulf War having the troops already in the country makes the task easier from the point of view of logistics and international relations.
