Two years after banning the use of chlorpyrifos und diazinon in U.S. households the size and weight of newborns, which had decreased by almost 1cm or 500g, respectively, for mothers with moderate concentrations of either substance in blood or umbilical cord, had returned to normal.
According to the NY Times (online edition) Dr F Perera compared data from 314 mothers with newborns. She stressed the importance of these findings because of their predictive value for the future development and health of newborns.
