That would be the same SBC which here in Michigan (SBC/Ameritech) has an ancient infrastructure of phone lines that can't handle a 56k modem (more like 26k) in some areas (like mine) and can't provide DSL to some residences (like mine) using phone lines they installed less than 2 years ago. I'm using Comcast cable and am quite happy with it - I doubt that SBC is going succeed at providing an alternative to cable... at least, not in my case. Like many industry giants, they sell services they can't provide very well and I'm guessing they're about to do it again...
