Best 404 Page Ever.  Maybe, though I've always been impressed with the amount of work people put into their 404 pages.  [ViewFromTheHeart]

I see that NewsIsFree is now assaulting users with pop-under ads - won't visit them again... ;-[

I downloaded and started using Cloudmark SpamNet (mentioned by Dane Carlson, Gregory Blake, InfoWorld, and The Register) and from what I can see, it's works quite well.  I disabled the Rules Wizard in Outlook 2000 and the new software (so far) appears to be blocking virtually all of the senders I had previously added to my Junk Senders list.  The good thing is that more messages were blocked, which I would have normally had to stop and add to my list.  There's already over 5,000 users, so the collective list is considerably more comprehensive than that of any single user.

I was concerned that some users might indiscrimately add blocked addresses that other users wouldn't want to have blocked.  Again - good news.  The app places all deleted messages in a folder so they can be reviewed prior to final deletion.  I disabled the preview pane in that folder so I could quickly glance through the subject lines.  As it turns out, all of the messages it caught today were SPAM.

The software is currently available for Windows only (if I'm not mistaken).

It's a shame that we're not doing anything more meaningful about the problem of SPAM.  We have no real legislation in place and unless you've been in a bubble for the last 6 months, you know that it's getting out of hand.  I personally feel that I should not have to do anything on my end to deal with SPAM.  Using SPAM blockers actually accommodates those assholes who couldn't care less about annoying us,  but, in the absence of anything better, I'm glad to see a new idea like SpamNet hit the web...

Community Costs  [Zeldman]

An interesting read that makes intelligent points about tying one's predicament to some larger picture, though it leaves out the fact that apparently, the users of Kuro5hin have been willing to cough up...

There's something interesting (that probably only I would notice) in the user reviews.  Did you notice it?
