For now, the Saudi plan is just a mirage [csmonitor.com].
This is the question: would Palestinians as a community take a reasonable land for peace deal? It's an empirical question, though it might be hard to get a good answer when Israeli tanks are tearing up the streets of Rahmallah.
But peace with Egypt and Jordan was for real. There's no reason to believe peace with the rest of the Arab League would be phony.
In fact, you would assume that Israeli technology combined with Arab consumption and oil cash would create something of a flowering. Personally, I would bet that the Bush mafia would see that as a negative event, and do what they can to prevent it.
As for needing a cooling off period, that's a warmonger line. It gives terrorists absolute veto over peace. If Sharon says something like: "no negotiations unless there is a week with no terrorist attack", you know for sure there will be a terrorist attack within a week.

Yes, we sold out, too. AOL's weblog buying spree [theregister.co.uk] got all of the good blogs. We didn't get as much as Colin Powell ($9mill??), but then our son isn't going to be the next head of the FCC. Anyway, it's worth a few million not to have to sit through board meetings. I am not without principle.
