"What kind of peace do I mean? What kind of peace do we seek? Not a Pax Americana enforced on the world by American weapons of war. Not the peace of the grave or the security of the slave. I am talking about genuine peace, the kind of peace that makes life on earth worth living, the kind that enables men and nations to grow and to hope and to build a better life for their children - not merely peace for Americans but peace for all men and women - not merely peace in our time but peace for all time." -- JFK

Regarding the Geneva Convention. If you say it doesn't apply, why are our *soldiers* involved? Seems to me the military's responsibility is to treat prisoners well, in any case.

Now imagine if John Lindh were an American soldier taken captive by the Taliban, and we received a photograph like the one that came out today. Public opinion wouldn't much care that the Geneva Convention didn't apply.

One former warrior's roadmap to peace [csmonitor.com]. In Ayalon's view, the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is out there, waiting, and the quicker the two sides get to it, the fewer people will die.

Microsoft's "Critical Security Update" doesn't work [theregister.co.uk]. Security is their top priority, though.
