Apple: Flying Into the Storm

Michael Black, field program director for NOAA: "Then, a custom AppleScript calls up our flight tracking software, plots out the points, draws out the track and faxes it to the right people. It used to take us four hours to draw it up by hand and enter it. Now it takes us about half an hour."

Karelia Software's Cocoa Open Source

Dan Wood, of Watson fame, offers a collection of open source Cocoa code snippets, as found in Watson and other Karelia applications and testbeds. He also provides a RSS feed where each entry is a snippet of code. [via MacMegasite]

FastScripts 1.0

FastScripts is a utility for running scripts (AppleScript or shell scripts) from whichever application you happen to be running at the moment. Similar to Apple's Script menu, FastScripts offers a number of additional features and enhancements. The cost of FastScripts is $10 US.

Safari 1.0 beta 2 (v73) available

Apple lists the following changes:
• Tabbed browsing
• AutoFill forms & passwords
• Privacy reset
• Available in English, Japanese, French and German
• Import Netscape and Mozilla bookmarks
• Increased standards compatibility
• Improved AppleScript support
The AppleScript dictionary now includes 'do JavaScript' but it may have been available in the previous release - I don't recall. -- Rob
