QUOTE OF THE DAY "Nature, to be commanded, must be obeyed." - - Francis Bacon RHINO HERE: So shrub's being maneuvered into starting a war, mini-speaker in his ear & all. The war is to be in the most volatile region in the world with threats of gasses, germs & radioactivity. Meanwhile republican operatives are axing environmental legislation wherever they can. And what pray tell are some of our legislators spending their time on? Demanding the congressional cafeteria no longer sell anything with the word French in it. No more french fries or french toast. Now they're "freedom fries" & "freedom toast". Rhino ponders "are they havin problems french kissing too?" Was it Pete Seeger that sang, "Our leaders are the finest men, and we elect them again and again." CNN coverage, on the web at: http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/03/11/sprj.irq.fries/index.html The Nation Magazine Urges Phone Calls To UN This Week Now, more than ever, it's critical to show support for those countries trying to resist US bullying and bribing on the UN Security Council. There are a number of concrete gestures you can take that may really help these nations stiffen their opposition to the proposed US/UK/Spanish UN war resolution. Chile, Pakistan, Cameroon, Angola and Guinea are all being heavily leaned on on numerous levels by the US. Email each member of the UN Security Council letting them know that many Americans oppose the war, and urging them to reject the US/UK/Spanish resolution. Shrub & the boyz never met an environmental protection they liked There's surely enough news this week regarding shrub's oil war to keep this blog filled, but I worry, (like so many of us) that while an army of activists are busy with anti-war efforts, shrub gang operatives continue to attack environmental protection laws. Thanks to the people who continue to focus on Mother Nature. Today Rhino ponders pollution & climate change. Several informative articles & web sites are linked below with THE BOTTOM LINE being a related message written 'specially for Rhinos Blog, by blog reader Zach Mandelstein. It concerns his work with Ecodom, a group of environmentalists & engineers searching for practical solutions to help ease global air pollution. These folks have created an effective & affordable new gizmo capable of decreasing vehicle emissions by 30%. May be the greatest thing since the muffler. Experts Fault Bush's Proposal to Examine Climate Change NY Times, By ANDREW C. REVKIN, 2/26/03 A panel of experts has strongly criticized the Bush administration's proposed research plan on the risks of global warming, saying that it "lacks most of the elements of a strategic plan" and that its goals cannot be achieved without far more money than the White House has sought for climate research. The 17 experts, in a report issued yesterday, said that without substantial changes, the administration's plan would be unlikely to accomplish the aim laid out by President Bush in several speeches: to help decision makers and the public determine how serious the problem is so that they can make clear choices about how to deal with it. The president has said that more research is needed... http://www.nytimes.com/2003/02/26/science/26CLIM.html EPA's Green Vehicle Guide Looking to buy a vehicle? Compare the emissions between the possible choices at: http://epa.gov/greenvehicles 7 States to Sue E.P.A. Over Standards on Air Pollution NY Times, By JENNIFER 8. LEE, 2/21/03 WASHINGTON, Seven state attorneys general, all Democrats, mostly from the Northeast, announced today that they would file a lawsuit accusing the Environmental Protection Agency of failing to enforce the Clean Air Act by neglecting to update air pollution standards. The lawsuit, which would be the third brought by states against the Bush administration over the Clean Air Act in the last seven weeks, shows the increasingly antagonistic relationship between the Northeastern states and the federal government over clean air. Across the country, states are becoming increasingly active on environmental matters, with many officials criticizing the Bush administration as eager to roll back regulations and Congress as unable to demonstrate effective oversight... http://www.nytimes.com/2003/02/21/politics/21ENVI.html Smog-Forming Emissions Badly Underestimated, California Officials Say The projections are so flawed that authorities say they may miss U.S. deadline. LATimes, By Gary Polakovic, 1/16/03 In a discouraging blow to smog cleanup across the Los Angeles region, air quality officials said Wednesday that they have vastly underestimated smog-forming emissions from a variety of sources and fear they will not be able to eliminate them in time to avoid penalties under the Clean Air Act. California air quality officials have long offered assurances that they are on track to achieve healthful air by the close of the decade, as mandated by Congress. Air pollution has indeed been in retreat. Yet it appears that progress against ozone and haze, the two most abundant pollutants, is not as far along as once thought and will become more difficult. Smog-Forming Emissions Badly Underestimated New Scientist magazine's "Global Environment Report" New Scientist magazine looks at how climate change, population growth, and pollution will affect our future. Then take their quiz to measure your contribution to human survival on Earth. http://www.newscientist.com/hottopics/environment/ Petition shrub to "Stop Global Warming!" Hundreds of nations across the globe are ratifying the Kyoto protocol, an international treaty to reduce global greenhouse gases. The United States is one of the last nations to support it! The US government, instead of taking action, has decided that we should study the phenomenon of global warming for another ten years! We've studied enough! There are alternative fuels, there are technological advances to help alleviate the pains of reducing our green house gas emissions. Take ACTION NOW before it is too late! Tell our President to take a lead role in helping protect our beautiful earth and its creatures for future generations to appreciate! Genesis World Energy, a privately funded consortium created by a group of military and space program research and development specialists, today unveiled a scientific breakthrough that allows consumers to easily access the energy contained within the hydrogen and oxygen molecular structure of ordinary water. This scientific breakthrough provides a limitless, low cost and environmentally clean source of energy that can be implemented with minimal cost and effort. The viability of using water as an energy source, previously a theoretical concept, is now a reality. "Water has always been the source of life on this planet, now it will also transform the way we create energy," said Charles Shaw, corporate counsel and spokesperson for Genesis World Energy. "The implications for worldwide energy generation and consumption are nothing less than staggering." The invention utilizes the existing electrical wiring and natural gas plumbing in a home or business to replace the energy provided by utility companies. http://www.evworld.com/databases/shownews.cfm?pageid=news071202-01 http://www.genesisworldenergy.org/

THE BOTTOM LINE ECOred, (Reducing Emission Device) Ecodom Corporation was founded in 1996 by a group of environmentalists and engineers searching for a practical solution to help ease global air pollution. Through years of research and development, Ecodom's engineers have developed our flagship product, the ECOred, (Reducing Emission Device). This patented technology has shown a remarkable 30% reduction in automobile emissions when subjected to the United States Environmental Protection Agency Federal testing procedures, the only valid test applied to prove emission effects in automotive devices. Ecodom's mission is to supply environmentally conscience consumers with the opportunity to purchase products specifically designed to improve the environment. The first application to utilize Ecodom's technology is our ECOred product. The ECOred is a reducing emission device suited for automobiles burning leaded or unleaded gasoline. The design has no discernable adverse effect on fuel economy or horsepower and is concealed in a muffler casing similar to the muffler currently installed on any vehicle. All that one has to do is remove their vehicle's existing muffler and replace it with the new unit. Upon ignition, any vehicle equipped with the ECOred will actively reduce emissions up to 30% and more. After years of study, Ecodom's believes that environmentally concerned consumers will favor products with built in environmental advantages carefully designed to avoid imposing on everyday practicality. Ecodom has effectively priced its technology within the budget of most consumers by offering the device at $130, a fraction of what it costs to purchase a hybrid or electric vehicle. The low cost solution offered by Ecodom is the most suitable answer to those who are concerned about the environment's well being, governments who need to answer the demands of their citizens, and the general automotive aftermarket. Gary Rhine and I lived for many years together on The Farm, a progressive community with a sharp focus towards conscious change. Gary has given me the opportunity to present Ecodom's story to the Rhino's Blog readers, and I invite you to share your thoughts, comments or questions. Ecodom feels through demonstration every active voice can help educate society to be more globally conscience and make the necessary changes needed to sustain a clean environment.
