MacWorld Address
I missed the first hour of the broadcast. Damn.
iPod - Three different models, 5, 10, or 20 gigs. Windows version available in late August that will work with MusicMatch. Windows version to be used as a "trojan horse" to show how good it can be on the Mac side. Now synchs address and calendar info, along with songs.
iSynch - synch your PDA, your Phone, and your iPod with your Mac so that you can track your life on all three devices, since it's using SyncML. "In less than a minute" according to Steve. "Mac to Mobile" is what they are calling it. President of Sony Ericsson is on now. The top priority is to make sure that the products work together seamlessly, and are easy to set up. (Hey Steve, stop twitching your hands while the guy is talking, thanks.) GPRS is the future of this, and the CEO of Cingular is up (Disclaimer: My Mom works for Cingular.) Wireless is not about voice only any more, data capability is important. Next gen (edge) 470 kb/sec to 150 at most, out next year. 5000 developers building apps for Cingular, they're psyched about Apple being on board. Psyched about open standards as well. maiking the comlex simple is the key to success, he says.
.mac - added to iSynch, so you can synch your computer to their servers, and all you data is in synch. Push one button, synch everything in your life. Free download in September.
Recap of apps I missed. iCal, iMail, yadda yadda yadda.
One more thing... The iMac. Mossberg digs it, %50 are sold with superdrives, price is now $1999 (corrected). Introducing 17" landscape display. Same viewing area as a 19" crt. 1440x900 resolution, in the 16x9 aspect ratio. GeForce 4 graphics. 256 gigs ram (missed the HD) in store 2 weeks from now.
Thanks the software and hardware groups. Rah Rah, we're going to rock the downturn (through investing) and come out doing great.
