Apple Switch parody. Here's a parody of the Apple TV commercial I was in. Link Discuss (Thanks, Dan Z.!) [Boing Boing Blog]

Hill-arious!

I'm Just Here for the Food [Slashdot]

This is a review of the cookbook by Alton Brown of Food Network's show Good Eats. I've been cooking for almost 22 years now, and this show got me back into the space of having fun while cooking, as well as explaining the science behind what happens when you cook. Recipies are easy, as well as (for the most part) fast, so you aren't spending days in the kitchen prepping your food. I highly reccomend both the show and the book.

Knowledge Management. An interview with Robert Buckman of Buckman Labs in Singapore's Business Times [via Mohan Narendran's comment on John Robb's blog]: We found that over 90 per cent of the knowledge in the company was in the heads of our people and it was changing every minute of every day. It [E M E R G I C . o r gI am blogging a blog that points to a comment on my blog.  Say that ten times fast.  Regardless, this is a great article that says basically that KM as it is practiced now is wrong.  It only deals with explicit knowledge, which represents only 5% of corporate knowledge.  The value is in finding a way to share the 90% of corporate knowledge in people's heads.  The answer, of course, is K-Logs.    [John Robb's Radio Weblog]

Agreed. By going to transparency in terms of process throughout an organization, you eliminate the fiefdoms that tend to pop up, and allow information to flow freely.

This eliminates the "Not my department" syndrome that I've seen in many a business, which can hamper information flow throughout a company. Information is the lifeblood of a company, letting ti pool up in one area is a bad idea.

INTERVIEW-Roll up for the floppy television - Forbes 07-19-2002. The floppy television  - News24 South Africa
Roll Up for the Floppy Television  - Yahoo! Headlines [Google Technology News]

In the book Farewell Horizontal, the clan soldiers wear armor that changes based on the video feed that it's receiving. I imagine that it would be possible to make either clothing, or the skin of a vehicle, project whatever is behind you, so that you appear invisible to those behind you. They had that in a series of books from Dean Ing (Butcher Bird, The Ransom of Black Stealth One).

Alternately, you could replace the panel on your backpack that goes against your back with a screen. This would allow you to play videos that you've stored on your PAN, play DVDs via bluetooth, serve as an alternate screen for your laptop, display maps and GPS information, with a built in RF tag reader it could tell you that the contents of your bag without opening it.

Now that GPRS is being rolled out, you could use that to see the video feed that your phone is giving your from a friend, who in turn could be sending the data their phone (over long distances) or to see shared data (via Bluetooth or 802.11) over medium to short ones.

If the panel is removable, you can then use it while you are walking as well, so that you have a map of your area. Combined it with the Keyhole software (that updates in real time) and a GPS system and never, ever get lost again.

John Ruskin. "In order that people may be happy in their work, these three things are needed: They must be fit for it: They must not do too much of it: And they must have a sense of success in it." [Motivational Quotes of the Day]
