Rory Perry's Weblog Law, technology, and the courts Cities and counties file suit to compel issuance of revenue bonds In a petition for a writ of mandamus filed this morning, the cities of Charleston and Huntington, along with Ohio and Kanawha Counties, seek to compel the West Virginia Economic Development Authority to issue revenue bonds, so that economic development projects certified by the economic development grant committee can receive revenue. Pursuant to Rule 14(b) of the Rules of Appellate Procedure, the Court called for a response by September 9, 2003. The petitioners have also requested that the matter be expedited for resolution. Given the substantial public interest in this matter, I'll be posting electronic versions of the various pleadings online. The case is STATE EX REL. CITY OF CHARLESTON, ET AL. V. WEST VIRGINIA ECONOMIC DEV. AUTH., NO. 031847. Update: The petition [pdf] and exhibits [pdf] are now available for review online. Future filings will also be scanned and posted. 3:21:51 PM [Permanent Link]
