Rory Perry's Weblog Law, technology, and the courts Court expedites review of video lottery revenue bond challenges By a unanimous decision, the Court today consolidated and agreed to hear two cases involving challenges to issuance of video lottery revenue bonds to fund certain economic development projects. The Court granted a request for expedited review "so that the Court may resolve all issues arising in the consolidated petitions with all deliberate speed." The Court set other important deadlines. All motions to intervene, file as amicus curiae, or otherwise challenge the issues arising in the petitions must be filed on or before September 22. The Court will consider those motions on September 23. All briefs are due on October 1. Oral argument in the case will be held on Friday, October 10, at 9 AM. The consolidated cases are: SER Cities of Charleston and Huntington, et al. v. WV Economic Development Authority, No. 31540 and SER Lewis v. WV Economic Development Authority, No. 31541.
