Rory Perry's Weblog Law, technology, and the courts Court technology tidbits The Court Technology Forum is a promising new collaberative weblog devoted to court technology, including vendor news, best practices, and information about new projects involving the courts and technology. The site has a news feed available as well. Chief Justice William Rehnquist released the year-end report on the federal judiciary. The report contains information on several technology projects, including this update on the status of electronic filing: The ability to file case documents over the Internet and to access court records electronically is a significant achievement that will make it easier for attorneys and others to do business with the courts. Such a system currently is operating in two-thirds of the bankruptcy courts nationwide, and a district court system is now operating in a third of the federal districts. The design of an appellate court system is well underway. More than 10 million cases are on CM/ECF systems and over 40,000 attorneys nationwide have filed documents in federal courts over the Internet.3:55:13 PM [Permanent Link]
