Two Big Feedster Changes ...
I just made two fairly big changes. Well one is actually derivative of the 2nd but anyway ...
- The default conjunctive operator between search words is now AND not OR. So if you search for Scott Johnson you are going to get any blog posts with Scott AND Johnson. What the default operator should be is unclear but this is more googleish so that's clearly a good thing.
- Substantially better performance for multi-word searches. I was auditing my logs and ran across multi-word queries taking **way** too long. So a little digging and a few changes and *poof*. Much better. Doesn't really address single word queries at all but multi word queries are substantially better.
Other stuff is in the works but the 1st change could make user expectations break a lot. Sorry about that but it was the right change to make and better sooner than later.

How Embarassing or Why "When" Is An Unacceptable Name
Yesterday I got this error message from Radio:
[Macro error: Can't evaluate the expression because the name "when" hasn't been defined.]
And when I searched for it using Google, I got this:
The following words are very common and were not included in your search: the the when. [details]
"been" (and any subsequent words) was ignored because we limit queries to 10 words.
Now if the term "when" had been userlandWhen, I know Google would have found it. Something to think about when you name stuff, eh?
Oh and the funniest thing of all in this tale of frustration and bile was that when I finally did find the error, it was here. If you look at that url, you'll see that it is a document I actually wrote just over a year ago now. Go figure. And it was one of the 1st Google hits to boot. I just ignored it initially since I had written it.

Thank You to the Kalsey Group
A big thank you to the Kalsey Group for helping debug a bunch of Feedster stuff yesterday. Even though technically the Kalsey Group is a competitor to my own FuzzyGroup for web development work, I have no hesitation about recommending this folks for your web development work. They know their stuff.

Is it Monday Again ?
Even though the birds are singing and the sun is shining, it has, for me, a definite Monday feel:
- Woke up late
- Discovered a cat sitting on my chest with big sorrowful eyes that said only "Daddy .. Its late and I'm hungry!!!"
- Realized trash had to get out, rushed it out the door
- Took obligatory shower, barely realized I had washed my hair when I got out
- Needless to say shampoo was still in said hair
- Turned on shower to remove shampoo and didn't set the temperature correctly. Happily a treatment of ice cold and then boiling hot water removes shampoo as nicely as soothing warm wather. It also makes you feel much more awake
