Trouble learning AppleScript
I've spent an hour or so a few times now trying to get an outline view working in AppleScript Studio. I can't seem to wrap my head around what's going on. (It doesn't help that the outline example doesn't seem to work with the April beta dev tools.) I think maybe I need to start at a lower level. I keep trying to learn AppleScript like I learn any new language, look at the basic data structures (lists, dictionaries, etc.) and syntax for defining functions, classes, etc. Refer back to the docs when I need to use a looping structure. It's not working with AppleScript, cause it's not meant to be a language for programmers. All the tutorials I can find are how to tell this app to take this text an paste it to this app. Anyone know of a good way to go about learning AppleScript? I haven't found anything very helpful yet.

Due to self-imposed time constraints...
Blog output will be reduced for a couple of months. I went to one of the weekly free concerts at the Galivan Center last night and remembered how much fun real (not online) life can be. It's been about four years since I actually spent serious time outdoors during the summer. That needs to change.
