More on Reading Mailing Lists
Some updates on A More Efficient Way of Reading Mailing Lists: Doug Landauer commented last night that he has written something similar to gmane.org in python. Sadly, it's not available though. It would be nice to have something like that running on my own machine so I wasn't at the mercy of gmane should it happen to go down. I wonder how hard it would be to write something like that with Twisted. Oh, and Halime got updated today. The release notes said something about not working with 10.1.5 (only Jaguar) but it works fine for me. Now that it doesn't crash when getting new posts from groups at gmane, it has replaced NewsFlash as my mailing list / usenet reader. It's all much less annoying than trying to manage huge volumes of email in Apple's Mail. If Mail had a nice way of viewing threads (and probably better rules) I'd go back to trying to manage my mailing list habit that way.
