WebEdit Rocks !

I've been introduced by the eVectors team to the refinements of WebEdit.

WebEdit is a component of the Frontier system that allows a group of people to work on a website or scripting project.

WebEdit has a client and a server side. Both sides are present in Radio, they have just been removed from the user interface for simplicity's sake.

eVectors provided me with a WebEdit server, to host activeRenderer development.

Activating the client module in Radio is very simple :

In the user.menus table, add a webedit entry of the address type (Table / New Scalar / Address), which points to @suites.webEdit.menu.

To enter the settings for the webEdit server you are working with, you should create a table named after the server you are using in user.webEdit.servers, with 5 items:

  • flNotes - a boolean, defaults to false.
  • host - a string, holds the name of the server (identical to the name of the table)
  • password - a string, the password you are using to access the webEdit server
  • port - a number, defaults to 80, the tcp port published by the server
  • username - a string, the id you are using to access the server.
WebEdit is an awesome tool for collaboration. It is even better when coupled with Radio's Instant Outliner, as demonstrated here.
