> liveTopics and its GoogleBug

I've replaced UserLand's GoogleIt macro with liveTopics GoogleBug macro this morning. Both link the current post to a google query based on it.

UserLand's version bases hte query on the post's title. With liveTopics' version, the link is first based on the topics associated with the current post. If there are none, the title is used instead.

I inserted the following string in s l a m 's #itemTemplate file :

<%liveTopicsGoogleBug ( <%itemNum%> ) %>.
Simple enough.

Now what would be even cooler is a version that would actually query Google using its web service API, then insert a string of relevant links directly in the page.

> activeRenderer 1.0 beta 9 Release Notes

This is hopefully the last beta version of activeRenderer 1.0. Fresh beta testers are still welcome to join the team (32 testers strong at last count) email..

  • I've fixed a number of minor glitches to the installation and registration code, thanks to accurate reports from testers.
  • activeRenderer now automatically updates itself when Radio starts, and logs the number of updated parts in Radio's Events Log, unless the copy is not registered, or the auto-update box is unchecked in activeRenderer's preferences page.
  • activeRenderer's latest widget now handles categories correctly, as well as posts not included in the home page.
  • Posts without titles (eek!) are now rendered using their first sentence as a pseudo title.
  • There is a new Tools / activeRenderer / Uninstal... menu to remove activeRenderer cleanly. The activeRenderer.root file is moved out of the Tools folder and kept directly in the Radio application folder.
If test reports keep coming in, I'll be able to publish a 1.0 release candidate 1 version sometime this week.
