> OPML Support Coming to OmniOutliner Soon

Rob McNair-Huff: Writing on the OmniOutliner mailing list, Brian C. at The Omni Group says: "OPML import and export support is forthcoming. We'll need you guys to give it a look-see when we release 2.1.1 beta 1."

For those of us wishing for OPML support in this excellent outliner, this is good news! [in Mac Net Journal].

> activeRenderer vs 1.1.3 and Roadmap Ahead

This is a maintenance release: the new version adds a direct link to activeRenderer's update feature from the Status Center section in the desktop home page [screenshot] if the tool is registered.

If activeRenderer is not registered yet, the status center displays a link to the registration page instead.

There are still a couple of (very minor) bugs looming around in activeBookmarks, so I may release another maintenance version before version 1.2, which will hopefully feature outline transclusion.

Once passed this milestone, I'll switch my research effort to two related projects, activeAggregator and activeOutliner.

Some basic RSS rendering functions of activeAggregator may find their way into activeRenderer at an early stage.

> The Road To Browser Based Transclusion

After last week's cry for help, I was sent some good advice on how to render outlines on the fly in a web HTML page, substituting script tags to iframes for incorporating the rendered outline into the current document.

Unfortunately, I ran into other unexpected problems, that I'm still 'actively' investigating. So I guess the release of activeRenderer 1.2 (with transclusion) is delayed further.

If a reader has some experiment in creating a 'script' element into a page dynamically, then modifying its 'src' attribute to load Javascript code on the fly, I'd be grateful if he contacted me via the feedback link.
