Dave Winer: Brian, the support manager from Omni says: "Just wanted to let you know that the version of Outliner that supports OPML hasn't officially been released yet. I screwed up late one sleep-deprived evening and it was posted for a day or so, but this was unintentional. If you could do us a favor and spread the word, we'd appreciate it, since it's causing a bit of confusion. It's coming soon, though." - Well, I just received a similar note, so I'm spreading the word. I can't wait for the official beta release though...

activeRenderer Donations

I've added a Paypal Donate button to the template of the activeRenderer site yesterday night.

Don't get me wrong, activeRenderer is and will remain free, as in $0.00.

activeRenderer is not released as a product, but as an outline enabling technology, for all Frontier/Radio developers to build upon (this includes UserLand and my own company by the way).

Yet, I've been bugged since the very first release by generous people who wanted to contribute something in exchange of activeRenderer's features. I'm a great believer in fair exchange, so Paypal looked like the easiest way (creating the HTML for the button took less than 5 mn) to satisfy would be contributors.

Who knows, I may end up publishing an activeRoll of donors :-)

activeRenderer's Macros Reference

I've compiled and documented a list of the macros activeRenderer provides for improving Radio templates with outlines: check out aR's macros reference.

Some of those macros, like daySwitch, are automatically inserted in templates when selecting the 'outline weblog' preferences.

Others, like opmlRender and activeRoll, are meant to be inserted manually.
