Technology Review: Creating a Culture of Ideas. Nicholas Negroponte. Any society that prides itself on being harmonious and homogeneous is very unlikely to catalyze idiosyncratic thinking. Suppression of innovation need not be overt. It can be simply a matter of people's walking around in tacit agreement and full comfort with the status quo. [Tomalak's Realm]
Good piece by Negroponte. He says we should focus on youth, diversity, and collaboration to build a nation of innovators. The collaboration argument is particularly timely in the emerging world of Groove and Radio. Not so long ago, people sought to get rich by not sharing their ideas. It appears the pendulum has swung the other way, and now there is real value to be found in sharing ideas with others. [Jeff Beckham's Radio Weblog]
