Social Software and the Politics of Groups. Social software, software that supports group communications, includes everything from the simple CC: line in email to vast 3D game worlds like EverQuest, and it can be as undirected as a chat room, or as task-oriented as a wiki (a collaborative workspace). Because there are so many patterns of group interaction, social software is a much larger category than things like groupware or online communities -- though it includes those things, not all group communication is business-focused or communal. Great Idea. Lets do it. FM RadioStation does have a plugin architecture that allows you to add tools on the fly without having to shutdown and restart the application. Mostly what's missing is the time to get the docs ready to share. Expendability and Interoperability were two key cardinal design goal. more later . . . FM RadioStation. A Windows Front-End to Radio Userland -- FM RadioStation. I've tried it, and it's really nice, clean and simple. Beautiful little app. This may be what's needed to push Radio to the next level. The biggest missing ... extendability! The ability to write Guest Tools, tie into the guts of the weblog/aggregator, is what drew me to the platform.
