"...the GPS-guided choppers can cover 60 acres in an hour, using a computer-generated moving map that keeps pilots following its green lines to within one foot of a perfect course..." First in a continuing series of posts of what is cool about GPS. We've been playing with a GPS receiver for over a year.  Mainly geocaching. Somebody hides a container of cool stuff in the middle of nowhere and you use a GPS device to find it. We've discovered an amazing number of parks here in Maryland that we never knew about before. Lots of fun. A good reason (excuse?) to get out of the house on weekends.

We signed Zach up at the local 'My Gym'. (Here, he's listening to some instruction - they were doing an imagination exercise with the little plastic bowling pins.) At first we went on Wednesday evening, but for some reason the next session filled up before we had a chance to sign up. So, now he goes on Saturday mornings. First, they get to 'free play' for a little bit; then they do some set gymnastic-like stuff in small groups, then some more free play, then they do a little imagination work at the end. He has a great time and he's learning a little about sitting quietly, waiting his turn, and listening to instructions. We think it's great.

Afterwards, we get some beans and rice at the 'Baja Fresh' next door. He likes that, too.

Wife and kid were supposed to return to BWI airport around 8:30 pm on Wednesday. As they were pulling away from the gate in Dallas, they ran into a truck on the tarmac. "The plane crashed," as my son said. They had to scrap the flight. Delta had to re-route everyone. After much dis-information and waiting and mis-direction, they were put on a flight to Dulles. They arrived at 11:30pm. After waiting at the luggage carousel for a while, we figured out they'd misplaced our luggage. Then we stood in line at the Delta lost luggage counter - actually Leslie stood in line while I tried to keep Zach occupied. Finally, we got home and I crawled into bed at 1:30am. At 4:30, the doorbell rang and our luggage arrived.

Let's just say I wasn't the most wide-awake person at work on Thursday.
