Poison Oak With the advent of fine, Spring hiking weather, we West Coasters need to know what poison oak looks like. This site has some great pictures. (Via Paul Andrews)

Revenge of the orange roughy Last night we had fish for dinner. It seemed the right thing to do, considering that we are professing Catholics and it was Good Friday. The main course consisted of orange roughy, purchased frozen from the local grocery store. I took a bite; it didn't seem all that great. Meanwhile, our son, who is home from college for the weekend and is trying to show appreciation for home-cooked food, wolfed his fish down. My wife took a bite. I made it through one more attempt before giving up. She lasted a little longer. So much for taking the easy way out and not driving all the way to the fish market.

It turns out that orange roughy are seriously overharvested. For the sake of not depleting stocks any further, they probably should be avoided.
