The lede for today's NYTime Op-Ed piece by Sen. Ernest Hollings reads: But these cries are not really for making trade free — they are for transferring power over trade to the executive branch and favored corporate interests. This should not be the way economic policy works in a democracy. Odd, this stirring protest against "transferring power ... to the executive branch and favored corporate interests" comes from the very same Senator who is attempting to foist onto us legislation that would transfer power over technological innovation and citizens' fair use of copyrighted material to, um, let's see ... the executive branch and favored corporate interests.
