However, I do think that we have a slightly different view of what a good AOP framework should look like. For one thing, I don't think it's necessary to tie it to any particular application server, and I fear that the JBoss stuff will be too integrated in there to be applicable in non-JBoss situations. Time will tell on this one.

Random thoughts]

I need to look at how JBoss' service infrastructure and components can be used independently of the whole app server. Marc alludes in his paper that this is the case.

So, like I've been saying all along, language extensions in Java is a pretty exciting area to be in right now.  All the tools are in place, its just up to you to make it happen.
