I felt that this week's piece on blogging in Newsweek was pretty weak. It trivialized what it is all about which is to be expected from a mag (rag?) like Newsweek. Weblogging at its worst is a random collection of ideas expressed with horrible grammar and spelling. At its best, though, its a way to "open source" ideas, not only in the computer/geek world, but across the academic fields as well.
I suppose that I plead guilty to having shared an irrelevant personal piece of information or two, but I also can see how weblogging ideas about Asperger's is more than simple "free association." In any case, the school year is about to begin, and I'm considering requiring my upper level Psychology students to keep weblogs on areas of interest. I'm also still considering going off email, which I believe hurts my professional productivity.
