Still here after 17 years National Post, Canada - Mahmoud Mohammad Issa Mohammad, a convicted terrorist, was admitted to Canada under false pretenses in 1987 and has lived in Brantford, Ont., ever since.
He has been ordered deported on at least three separate occasions. Yet he and his lawyer have managed to delay his expulsion by launching a succession of appeals. Two federal governments -- the Tories under Brian Mulroney and the Liberals under Jean Chretien -- have been stymied in their efforts to remove him.
Now that he appears to have exhausted all avenues of appeal, Mohammad has come up with another excuse why he should stay: At 61, his health is failing -- he suffers from diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, depression, migraines, prostatitis and hepatitis B -- and he is worried he will be unable to find adequate health care if he is deported to Lebanon.
