Pope John Paul II dead at 84. (1920-2005)
John Paul II was one of the great men of the 20th Century, and in my opinion he was only held back from true greatness by the people that surrounded him.
Although it is difficult for many to forgive his inaction in light of the priest pedophile scandals, I know that almost every other challenge he fought with integrity and faith.
Stalin once famously mocked the Catholic Church by asking: "How many divisions does the Pope have?"
This Pope will always be known for how he was a critical part of the downfall communism. The answer for Stalin, of course was "as many as he needs".
He was worthy of respect and admiration, and his words deserve all of our thoughtful consideration.
