I think it's fair to say that Rick Richman of Jewish Current Issues has caught the New York Times perpetrating some shabby journalism in connection with its recent interview of Condoleezza Rice: "Condoleezza Rice and the New York Times." Richman compares an August 18 Times story on the interview with the State Department transcript of the interview released on August 22. In his column today, Charles Krauthammer follows the Times's twist on one of the key Rice quotes: "The stakes after Gaza." Gmail Invites Via SMS. Gmail now open to anyone with a mobile phone Dozens of people have written in to tell us that with an account being required to use Google Talk, Google has loosened their grip on GMail invites. From this site, anyone can now receive GMAIL invitation codes via their mobile phone. BBC News "Anti-Aging Hormone" Found in Mice; May Help Humans National Geographic - Researchers have dramatically increased the life spans of mice by genetically engineering them to overproduce a protein called klotho. Not surprisingly, the discovery has spurred speculation that klotho could help humans live longer. 7:34:42 AM

UN: Syria not cooperating with Hariri investigation. According to the UN, Syria is not cooperating with the investigation into the murder of Rafik Hariri. Syria is not co-operating with an international investigation into the death of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, a UN official has said. Damascus has yet to give investigators access to key witnesses and documents, the UN's Under Secretary General said. The UN Security Council later passed a motion urging "all parties" to aid the investigation, while the US' UN envoy called Syria's stance "unacceptable".  We'll see if anyone is really interested in twisting some arms. The problem is: if Syria is really behind the killing, which appears increasingly likely, it will still be worse for Syria to cooperate and be found responsible than to be uncooperative and still be able to deny the claims.
