Chris LydonLate for the Beach, but Just in Time for Back-to-School

Here's a great offline listening opportunity for journalism students: As a fellow at Harvard's Berkman Center, former New York Times reporter and NPR talkshow host Christopher Lydon has been publishing weekly news-feature interviews all summer as MP3 audio files with brief weblog introductions. Now, just in time for Labor Day weekend, all of Lydon's audio labors from the past few months have been collected into one downloadable file by the creator of the weblog project, Dave Winer.

It's "suitable for beach listening," Dave says, but I think it's an even better resource for iPod-toting journalism students, who have a lot to learn almost eight hours of listening to this topnotch interviewer. Bloggers, journalists and at least one presidential candidate are among those he has interviewed so far...

Just be prepared for a half-hour-plus download, even on a high-speed connection, and have an "unzip" program handy to uncompress the folder full of 21 audio files.

All the Lydon interviews through August, in one download. Behrl, Cone, Daily Kos, Dean, Fisk, Gleick, Kinzer, Powell, Preacher, Reynolds, Scarry, Searls, Sifry, Slugger, Toynbee, Volokh, Weinberger, and yours truly. Catch up in a single 203MB download; suitable for beach listening. ";->"
