No Pigs at Fenway
Yankee fans may have been taken aback this morning at the text on the front of Boston.com where a picture of Roger Clemens should have been. Until the photo loaded, the alternative text visible was just "Pig races."
Was this some kind of obscure inside-baseball insult? Nah. Clemens actually got a standing ovation Sunday in his last regular season appearance at Fenway, despite any mixed feelings about his mid-career switch of uniforms some years ago.
In fact, the quick and easy search box on the bottom of the page revealed that there was a "pig race story the previous day, so the hidden caption hanging in mid-air was just a ghost of yesterday's news, not a curve ball.
As for the speed getting the photo over the plate, the folks at Boston.com are still working with a relatively new redesign. And even though it was just about dawn on a holiday weekend, a corrected caption and the Globe's own picture of Clemens were in place within the hour, along with a three-story package with a Rocket Boost headline for Clemens' farewell.
