aimee's books of the month club Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi A graphic (as in drawn in comic-book style) autobiography about a young women coming of age in Iran in the 1980s. She blends her dream-world with the real-world instability in Iran. Very moving.

City Lights Mural
A few years ago my friend Jeff Conant coordinated the making of this amazing mural on City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco. It's a re-creation of a mural destroyed in 1998 by the Mexican army. The original was painted in Taniperla, a Zapitista community in Chiapas, Mexico as a celebration of local autonomy. 11:40:34 AM comment [] ![]() |
