living with nature
i've come to accept the wildlife in my little cottage.

first it was the argentinian ants, that came in droves. i made a moat for my kitty food, kept the kitchen extra clean. but the determined buggers settled into the lining of my fridge and in my freezer they created an ant carcass burial pile. nothing stopped them, eco and not eco, so i gave up, and i'm much happier for it.

then kitty brought a half-dead rain drenched rat in the house. i put it outside the door ("run, little one, run!") i go to bed. about 3 a.m. i hear kitty come in, thump onto my bed, and then i hear a second little thump. uh-oh. dead wet rat in bed. i gave the rat the three yard toss.

but tonight takes the cake. i was chanting at my alter. when i was done i heard this quiet clicking sound. i look around, 'what is that?' i see a slug on my dictionary. i look closer. the slug is chewing on my dictionary, and that is the sound i was hearing!
