Since then I have been wondering how I might aid in the constructive effort-- and how I might boost my powers of sustain and extend it. (It's not that I come to the effort without background or expectation; rather, it's that I had put down the task for lack of community and in the press of concerns having to do with teaching and transition duties.)
Anyway,I go way back with Laszlo and Miller etc. Was a student of Paul Ehrlich's in the early 60's, later and oceanography student, Peace Corps volunteer --final segue -educator/special educator. Have been working as an educator for 36 years and have transported what I could of systems and ecological thought into teacher training. Not a good match; the audience was often not ready for such theory based orientations. One reason why: teaching is, it has been argued by a forgotten source, mimetic rather than theoretical. Thus principled action deriving from all-encompassing theory is a major and unwelcome stretch. -------- My contribution to the ecology/ethics arena can be, for now, a listing of major principles of Goldstein (from The Way) and of J.Miller (his major work Living Systems). Last night I inserted a rough of each into the Radio outliner. I plan to clean those up and then a) look for cross-links with others' work-on-the-web and b) to try to instantiate theory re the synergy efforts.
