Summary: In this entry I give proof positive that I am a weblog tinkerer! (I've been slow to see what is obvious to others--emperor's new clothes in inverse.) This time I add a tool that allows guest writers access to the sidebar of my weblog. And, because it is a feed rather than static text copy, the guest entries will vary from one day to the next. I do this using a script provided by feedroll.
I have written two recent entries about about weblogging tools. I put together a fairly comprehensive tool list with explanations on 11/29 and added discussion of PurpleSlurple on 12/20. (recent practice and some back-and-forth with Seb Paquet confirmed its potential as a referencing device). [Also, Lilia Efimova's recent collection of commented links will be sure to deepen your thinking.]
Today I have inserted a feedroll into my sidebar. Rationale? If links to those I read are worth sharing, why not give more granular access to their content by providing dynamic links to specific entries[rather than to weblog as a whole]?
Perhaps vary the feed source on a month to month basis?
There's another reason: I read my own weblog.
];o{ ?? you say?In short, I think dynamic homepage access to respected sources will not only be interesting for readers but will also add some spice to my own weblog cooking process. In other words, I start my thinking about what to write by opening up my homepage. By doing this I am more likely to build in some continuity with recent entries, concerns, etc.
