Summary: I concluded yesterday's entry on using a feedroll to bring guest writer material onto my homepage with I think dynamic homepage access to respected sources will not only be interesting for readers but will also add some spice to my own weblog cooking process.. I still think so.. but after yesterday's work (see side column) I have some further thoughts/questions.

In my case, and speaking practically, no one feed will do it. Now I have 5 feeds and am still not completely satisfied.Yet, to add more is to commit the reader to "a life of scrolling"; i.e., the principal that blog material is organized and accessibly presented in one screen (the visual equivalent of a sound bite?) has been compromised to the point of extinction.

So far I'm unhappy with the selectivity of the lists that are generated. My problem with each is that I want some, not all, of the entries that are listed. In order to better select among weblog entries, I'd like the rss feeds from rich sources of topical materials (since I'm taking license here to be a picky, roughly five categories between them with each category having 4-6 subcategories) to which I can apply Boolean searches. For example, if , for a given entry, either or both

  • such and such a phrase OR
  • the combination of
    1. term a (or synonym) and
    2. term b (or synonym) and
    3. term c (or synonym)
are found, then the article headline and link are listed in my feed. Otherwise the entry is skipped. The list is printed because it is the subset of source weblog entries that cover the categories/subcategories with which I am concerned.

With my [theoretical] headline/story aggregator I would be able to provide some stimulating material for my own further knowledge-building and for the knowledge-building of reader's (Each is reading material at my site; thus, a fairly strong indication that each is also interested in some of the same issues and topics).

Ideas?
