Matt Pope blogs the Tablet PC launch from the train ride home. I love that train too, Matt. I just wish it was one of those fast trains. Its 200 miles from Boston to NYC. It should take about an hour and a half on a real train. But I digress.. congratulations to the Dave Boctor, the whole Tablet PC team and partners (likeus)The hardware looks sexy enough. Matt and Jack Ozzie have been living on a Tablet for a while now too. I might have to have on if only so I can use Ink chat!

More on DVDs: Some folks read my little tirade about trying to play my DVD and found it a sad and familiar tale. I'm not going to go buy a Mac. For better or worse, Windows is my reality. I've based my career around the platform. I've messed around with otherOSes and stuff, but I'm most productive with Windows (ok, so I run emacs and MKS too). At this point its a matter of familiarity as well as expertise. It has taken me a long time to learn this game and I will perhaps never feel like I've mastered it. So given that I live in Windows I have to make it as good as it can be. I have always tried to learn and help build great programs for Windows. I guess its the difference between trying to change things from without, and change things from within. My main motivation for complaining about things is to inspire people to try to fix them. I hope that anybigcompanyinterested in convergence of homeentertainmentand the PC (know any big companies like that?) would agree with this simple statement:
"If I buy a computer with a DVD player it should just work."
