I've been living without a TV for about one month now. It is wonderful. How many times have you sat down and found that nothing is worth watching and yet 3-4 hours go by and you're still sitting there? I don't know what the story is this time around, but I remember hearing that during the last Iraq war, people who watched more TV were the most in favor of the war and knew the least about it. Here's a tidbit on what I'm talking about.
Here is a promotion from my friends at Ad Busters for TV turn off week:
Do you spend more time watching nature programs than experiencing the real thing? More time laughing at TV jokes than joking around yourself? More time watching TV sex than making love yourself?
Then there's something you're missing.
Television isn't real, but the addiction is.
If you missed TV turn-off week this year its not too late. See if you can make it a whole week. I dare you. But then, imagine having 3-4 extra hours of life per day! Next we'll move on to ending our automobile addiction.. that one is a little tougher..
